I am deeply concerned about the proposed budget reconciliation bill that could allocate up to $175 billion in funding increases for ICE over the next decade. This massive influx of funding would enable the Trump administration to rapidly expand its inhumane mass deportation agenda and egregious violations of due process rights. ICE is already unlawfully deporting immigrants to countries like El Salvador without proper notice or legal proceedings, even sending some to be jailed in notoriously abusive prisons with U.S. funding. Providing billions more would only exacerbate these unconstitutional actions – allowing ICE to expand wartime authorities, build more immigration jails, rapidly hire thousands of officers, and outsource to private prison contractors. I urge you to firmly reject any budget proposal that increases funding for ICE's deportation machinery. We should be reining in their abuses, not bankrolling an accelerated assault on civil liberties and human rights. Every person deserves fair legal treatment, not fast-tracked removals without due process. Upholding constitutional protections must be the priority over mass deportation. Vote no on measures that would turbocharge these inhumane and unlawful policies.
