Stop the pornography bans!

To: Sen. Warnock, Rep. Carter, Sen. Ossoff

From: A constituent in Hinesville, GA

May 8

I'm writing to ask you to oppose the recently introduced bill that would effectively outlaw and ban all pornography while changing the definition of obscenity and bypassing the Miller test. This is nothing short of outright censorship for the sake of banning porn and other forms of expression that public officials and special interests dislike, putting the burden on adults while saving no one from being victimized. We're living in times where the nation's well being is at stake and it's disgraceful that lawmakers and Congress is even choosing to entertain banning porn over properly fixing our nation and the blatant conflicts of interest in politics that are still in play. The bans will not stop with pornography. Free speech is being attacked by Brendan Carr, Trump's FCC, religious groups and antiporn groups, along with nationalist groups. I understand pornography isn't well liked by most people in Congress. But even you know this is blatant overreach that will permit other forms of censorship. This focus on pornography as a go-to reason for the bills affliction people of all nation in light of the unlawful renditions, outbreaks of disease, high prices, cuts to essential programs for veterans, health and education, is quite frankly insulting to my intelligence and an affront to the promised freedoms granted to us by the Constitution and founding fathers. Please oppose this bill. Dy
