People, Not Polluters: Reclaim Our Environmental Protections
I am a voting constituent writing to request your immediate intervention to shield our environment from corporate corruption. Oil billionaire Jeffery Hildebrand—a major Trump donor—is successfully influencing this administration to dismantle crucial EPA climate regulations.
Hildebrand’s company, Hilcorp, is notorious for acquiring aging "stripper wells." While these low-producing wells account for only 6% of domestic oil production, scientific studies show they leak roughly half of the oil sector's total methane emissions. Despite methane being a hyper-potent greenhouse gas that rapidly accelerates global warming, the administration has appointed a former Hilcorp lobbyist to a top EPA post to orchestrate a rollback of the 2024 methane rules.
This is a textbook case of pay-for-play politics: a wealthy campaign donor buys political favor, writes his own environmental loopholes, and pockets the profits while everyday citizens inherit the resulting climate disasters.
Our environmental policies must be dictated by public health and climate science, not the bank accounts of fossil fuel tycoons. I urge you to reject these corrupt rollbacks, hold corporate polluters accountable, and pass legislation that strictly regulates methane emissions.
