Investigate Trump's Data Center Deals with Russia

October 19

Investigate the Trump administration's deals with Vladimir Putin, including the emerging agreement on data center infrastructure. On October 16, Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev told attendees at an energy event in Moscow that the US and Russia will soon announce a joint data center agreement. This came on the heels of Trump's diesel deal with Putin, which itself was cover for a sanctions waiver Trump granted Russia on a bill he signed into law himself. This is not abstract foreign policy. The DataOne facility in Vineland, New Jersey, already connected to Nebius Group, the Dutch company formerly known as Yandex, just landed a five-year, $17.4 billion contract with Microsoft. That same facility has racked up two stop-work orders and a $1 million fine from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for running 62 natural gas generators without permits. Communities never got a say. A Time magazine interview on September 28 showed Trump openly envious of data center deals other countries have struck, days before Dmitriev signaled more US-Russia announcements were coming. Congress needs to connect those dots and act. Cutting infrastructure deals with an authoritarian government actively waging war on a US ally is a betrayal of the public trust, and it cannot go unanswered.
