I am writing as a deeply concerned citizen following the recent ICE-involved shooting in Minneapolis and the nationwide protests that have followed.
There are now additional videos circulating online that appear to show a woman collapsing after being shot. While the full facts and authenticity of these videos have not yet been confirmed, the fact that the public is even forced to question whether multiple people may have been killed by federal agents in the street is itself a profound failure of transparency and accountability.
We should not be living in a country where citizens are left in fear, confusion, and uncertainty about whether lethal force is being used appropriately, lawfully, or repeatedly.
What we are witnessing is not an isolated tragedy, but a dangerous pattern of federal overreach, excessive force, secrecy, and lack of meaningful oversight. No agency operating within a democracy should function with unchecked power or immunity from consequence.
I urge you to take immediate action by:
• Ordering independent investigations into recent ICE-involved shootings
• Releasing all body-camera footage, surveillance video, and operational records
• Establishing strict federal oversight and use-of-force limitations
• Suspending and restructuring aggressive enforcement operations
• Redirecting funding toward lawful, humane, and community-based immigration processes
Accountability is not anti-law enforcement. It is pro-democracy, pro-safety, and pro-justice.
Public trust cannot survive secrecy. Democracy cannot survive unchecked power. Transparency and accountability are no longer optional, they are urgent.
