The current administration has unleashed Elon Musk and his DOGE team on Social Security. He called Social Security a Ponzi scheme, and spread disinformation about fraud with zero proof. And worst of all, he is systematically dismantling the Social Security Administration (SSA). Musk’s team has slashed the workforce, plans to shut down 47 regional and local offices, and eliminated phone services for millions of beneficiaries and their families. These cuts don’t make the system more efficient—they make it harder for Americans to claim the benefits they’ve rightfully earned. It’s a backdoor attack on Social Security that paves the way for privatization. Next week, the Senate will vote on the confirmation of Frank Bisignano as the next SSA Commissioner. Serious concerns have emerged about his testimony before the Senate Finance Committee—specifically, allegations that he misled lawmakers about his ties to DOGE employees at the SSA and his role in their hiring. A whistleblower from the SSA has provided credible evidence contradicting his statements. We cannot afford an SSA Commissioner who may have lied under oath or who supports an agenda that weakens Social Security. I demand you oppose Bisignano’s confirmation. Social Security should work for the American people—not Wall Street. Let’s stand together to protect it.
