RFK Jr. Fails to protect CDC - He must go!!

To: Rep. Jayapal, Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray

From: A constituent in Seattle, WA

August 10

I am writing to express my deep concern over the performance of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services and to urge you to call for his resignation. Apart from the fact that he is DEEPLY unqualified to hold such an office given his lack of any medical training or public health experience and his pervasive mistrust of science, it is now clearly apparent that he will not protect the very people under his charge - employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. After the August 8 attack on the CDC main campus in Atlanta, Georgia, where a gunman opened fire on buildings right as CDC employees were leaving work for the day and picking up their children from daycare, RFK Jr. had NOTHING to say - no condemnation, no words of encouragement for workers who sheltered in place on campus buildings riddled with bullet holes. RFK Jr. cared so little for thousands of his employees who were literally under attack and spent hours fearing for their lives - and for the brave DeKalb County police officer who selflessly gave his life protecting others during the shooting - that he instead tweeted photos from his fishing vacation in Alaska on August 9 before making any public statement. Of course, RFK Jr. Has spent the last 2 decades criticizing and demonizing CDC and CDC employees, all the while spreading scientific misinformation and stoking the fires of hate against the agency. CDC needs a strong advocate for health and science who cares about the well being of its dedicated workforce AS WELL AS the health and safety of all Americans. The "leader" of HHS should be someone who will immediately stand up and condemn an attack on our nation's hardworking and dedicated public servants, especially those who have risked their lives to protect people they will probably never meet. We demand the resignation of RFK Jr. as HHS Secretary of Health for refusing to stand up for Federal workers, and for spreading misinformation and lies that led to this horrific attack in the first place. The blame for this attack should lie squarely on his shoulders.
