Reject Trump's Image on U.S. Passports and Government Property

Vote against any funding or authorization for the State Department's planned passport redesign featuring President Trump's image. This is government corruption, plain and simple. No modern U.S. passport has ever featured a sitting president's image. According to Georgetown University passport historian Edward Kolla, no foreign passport features "the head of state of any country" either. There's a reason for that. Passports represent the United States, not whoever occupies the White House at the moment. This passport scheme is part of a disturbing pattern: Trump's face on National Park passes, his signature on currency, his name on the U.S. Institute of Peace and Kennedy Center, a new TrumpRx.gov website, and Treasury coins bearing his image while he's still in office. The first time in American history a sitting president's face appeared solo on a coin. This isn't patriotism. It's the kind of personality cult we see in authoritarian regimes. American passports should represent our country's values and history, not serve as propaganda tools for one person's ego. Block this redesign and any similar attempts to plaster Trump's name and face on government property.
