I am writing to urge you to support Representative Robin Kelly's impeachment effort against Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. The fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer in Minneapolis represents a tragic consequence of leadership that has prioritized aggressive enforcement over constitutional protections and public safety. Representative Kelly has introduced three articles of impeachment that detail serious violations warranting removal from office. The first article addresses obstruction of Congress, alleging that Secretary Noem willfully obstructed Congressional oversight and withheld Congressionally appropriated funds in violation of her constitutional oath and federal law. This undermines the fundamental checks and balances our democracy requires. The second article concerns violation of public trust. Secretary Noem has compromised public safety, violated due process rights of American citizens, and directed unconstitutional actions in cities including Chicago, Charlotte, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis. When a Cabinet secretary operates outside constitutional boundaries, families are separated and lives are destroyed or ended, as we saw with Renee Nicole Good. The third article alleges self-dealing, accusing Secretary Noem of abusing her office for personal benefit and steering federal dollars to associates. Public service demands integrity, and using a Cabinet position for personal gain betrays the trust of every American. While incompetence and dangerous leadership are concerning, breaking the rule of law crosses the threshold into impeachable conduct. Secretary Noem's actions demonstrate a pattern of constitutional violations that cannot continue unchecked. I ask that you support this impeachment effort and hold Secretary Noem accountable for her violations of law and public trust. Our democracy depends on leaders who respect constitutional limits, and Secretary Noem has repeatedly demonstrated she will not.
