The Trump administration's reported plan to terminate the Energy Star program is deeply concerning and would represent a major setback for energy efficiency and sustainability efforts nationwide. The program has been instrumental in driving significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and utility costs for millions of American households and businesses. According to studies, Energy Star has helped prevent over 300 million metric tons of emissions since 1992 while saving consumers $35 billion in utility bills in 2017 alone. Shuttering such a successful and cost-effective initiative would be a short-sighted decision that undermines our nation's environmental progress and energy independence. I urge you to take action to preserve and strengthen the Energy Star program for the benefit of our economy, environment, and future generations.
