To my members of congress (Rep. Latimer, Sen, Schumer and Sen Gillbrand)... Happy New Year! 2026 is here and I am writing to you because you all have a very long to-do list starting now and I want to be sure you are ready to accomplish all of these things…Please know that I (and many others) will be out there doing everything humanly possible to help. I am a woman and a mother and won’t accept anything less for the future of this country and our planet for our children! So - I will keep this short - there is much more to say but starting right now you MUST turn up your fight for us! 1-Defend liberty and justice for all and the US constitution! 2-Uphold the rule of law and be sure to hold every criminal fully accountable. 3-Mobilize every ounce of resources and energy to ensure the Democrats take back the house and the senate. 4-Reduce the divisiveness in your party, celebrate and support the new mayor of NYC, and come together because this is an existential point in history and nothing less than full success will be enough. 5-Be sure you have a very detailed and specific map to follow IMMEDIATELY when we take back control in the house and the senate. Focus on agreement and consensus and put your egos and philosophical differences aside for the future of our democracy. There is no time to waste and every person expects to see aggressive and impactful action both immediately and then 365 days from now (reform the SCOTUS, more guardrails for our constitution, women’s reproductive health, protect immigrants, sensible gun reform, affordability for all, health care, protect LGBTQ+ humans, end citizens united, end gerrymandering, repair our place in the world and defend freedom through the planet, environmental protections, and much more).
