Natalie Harp — a $150,000-a-year special assistant with no confirmed policy expertise — has a standing seat on Marine One, texts world leaders on Trump's behalf, and was one of the only aides who boarded a secure escape vehicle during a reported Iranian missile threat, while Secretary of State Rubio and Treasury Secretary Bessent were left on the vulnerable aircraft. That is not a staffing arrangement. That is a serious national security question, and it demands scrutiny. Harp controls access to Trump's Truth Social account, posts content without review from the chief of staff's office, communications staff, or national security officials, and has told colleagues she "only listens to" Trump. She reportedly posted the Obamas-as-apes video and the "Unified Reich" repost. The Secret Service was alarmed by personal letters she left in Trump's private spaces during the 2024 campaign. Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan describe her as present in "almost every single" Oval Office meeting. This is someone shaping what the president sees, hears, and posts — with zero accountability to anyone but him. Congress needs to investigate the scope of Harp's role, her access to classified spaces and communications, and her involvement in the Truth Social paid early-access lawsuit. The public deserves to know who is actually filtering information to the president of the United States.
