Only Congress Can Declare War

To: Sen. Hagerty, Sen. Blackburn, Rep. Rose

From: A constituent in Nashville, TN

June 20

President Trump is considering attacking Iran. He says he’ll make his decision in the next two weeks. While I fully believe he will be talked out of it, it’s time to remember that the Executive Branch does not declare war. Only Congress can do that. I urge you to remind him of that. It’s in the Constitution. If the president makes the terrible decision to go to war, Congress must immediately impeach and convict him. He must be removed from office.
