Stop treating Trump's press ban as a First Amendment story and start treating it as what it actually is: a psychiatric emergency that demands action under the 25th Amendment. When the president brags about escalators mid-briefing, can't explain how his own executive orders would work, and proudly declares "I think we're repressive also" when compared to China, this is not a political controversy. This is a man who is not fit to hold office. News organizations are doing the country a disservice by covering each outburst as a policy dispute. The more responsible move is a full White House press boycott — let Trump hold his tantrums in an empty room — while dedicating serious, daily coverage to his obvious cognitive decline and the real-world damage it is causing. Gas prices are rising, the Iran war grinds on, and corruption is metastasizing through every institution, all while the person nominally in charge can barely stay awake. The 25th Amendment exists precisely for this moment. I want to know where you stand. Will you publicly call for an assessment of the president's fitness for office? The midterms are coming, and your constituents are watching to see who has the courage to name what everyone can plainly see.
