What is happening in the Capitol of our country is unprecedented in my almost 69 years of living. I remember in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. I was a teenager and I was frightened for our country. The assassination of Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr…..overdose deaths of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, Watergate…yes, I was worried but I didn’t fear our democratic government crumbling. Now, I can’t believe what is happening. The legislative branch really doesn’t have any idea what to do. The judiciary branch is working hard, baby steps. But the executive branch is storming full force ahead, crushing our values, our decency, our global respect and the laws of our Constitution. Unprecedented.
I am asking that you all continue to vote “NO” for this horrendous bill. And even as I write this, I don’t have much hope. I am so worried about the future for my children and grandchildren. Democrats need to become much better strategists than the Republicans!! We have to take risks and we need to stand up for our rights, no matter how progressive! We cannot lead with fear. Democrats cannot keep doing the “same old, same old”. We need sweeping change.
