After witnessing Friday’s disgraceful events in the Oval Office, I am left with a profound sense of sorrow and outrage. I have never felt more ashamed of the individuals occupying the highest offices in our nation. What transpired was not leadership—it was a shameful display of arrogance, ignorance, and cruelty.
President Zelenskyy, a leader who has courageously defended democracy in the face of Russia’s brutal war, was mocked and belittled by Donald Trump and J.D. Vance. Their taunting—asking if he “even owns a suit”—was not just a childish insult; it was a calculated act of disrespect. What followed was even more appalling: a shouting match filled with falsehoods and an egregious demand for tribute to Trump, an extortion attempt masquerading as diplomacy.
Under this administration, the United States has abandoned its allies, shredded decades of global leadership, and betrayed those who depend on our support. Friday, our country shamefully aligned itself with Putin’s regime, voting alongside Russia, North Korea, and Belarus at the United Nations—an appalling abdication of moral responsibility. This is not just a policy failure; it is a collapse of American values. It is the transformation of our nation into a pawn of Russian influence, sacrificing our sovereignty, our principles, and our global standing at the altar of Trump’s corruption and cowardice.
This cannot stand. I urge you and your colleagues—on both sides of the aisle—to issue a forceful, bipartisan condemnation of Trump and Vance’s despicable actions. Silence is complicity.
I specifically call on the entire Congress to take a stand. Stand for America. Stand for democracy. Stand for the free world. The choice is clear: Will you defend the United States, or will you enable Trump’s disgraceful subservience to Putin?
History is watching. So are the American people. I implore you to act.
