Stop the DHS unit targeting green card holders. The Department of Homeland Security has created a dedicated unit to re-vet thousands of legal permanent residents, and it needs to be shut down. This is not immigration enforcement — it is a systematic attack on people who have already earned lawful status in this country.
The numbers tell the story: of nearly 3,000 green cards already reviewed, only about 2% were flagged as potentially deportable. That means 98% of these people — real families, real workers, real community members — were subjected to government scrutiny for nothing. Over 500 more are still under active review, and more than 50 are currently at risk of deportation. This is a dragnet, not a targeted security operation.
This administration has moved from targeting undocumented immigrants to targeting green card holders, and there is no reason to believe it stops there. DACA recipients, visa holders, naturalized citizens — no one is safe when the government decides legal status is negotiable. This is a human rights issue. I expect you to publicly oppose this DHS unit, demand its dissolution, and use every legislative tool available to defund and dismantle it.
