Protect immigrants, uphold justice - bar ICE from NY courts

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Dingell, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Saline, MI

June 17

New York City's collusion with federal immigration enforcement by allowing ICE agents to make arrests in state courthouses is a severe violation of core judicial principles and civic ethics. This reprehensible practice obstructs due process, dissuades immigrants from accessing legal representation, and broadly undermines public trust in civic institutions. Such discriminatory overreach systemically denies equal protection and impartial justice explicitly guaranteed under the Constitution. I demand immediate legislative action barring immigration agents from all courthouses and unequivocal assurance that New York City will safeguard all residents' inviolable rights regardless of immigration status. Upholding equal access to justice is a fundamental obligation of government that cannot be disregarded or allowed further infringement.
