Another Republican Representative Accused of Sexual Harassment by His Own Party

To: Rep. Pingree, Sen. King, Sen. Collins

From: A verified voter in Cumberland Center, ME

August 4

I am writing to express my deep outrage over the House Ethics Committee's report detailing Representative Chuck Edwards' serious misconduct. According to the committee's findings, Representative Edwards fostered a hostile work environment while showering young female staff members with lavish gifts and unwanted attention. This conduct is completely unacceptable for any member of Congress and falls far short of the standards the public has every right to expect from its elected officials. A censure alone is simply not enough. Basic accountability demands that Representative Edwards resign immediately. Political leaders—including Senator Susan Collins—have often called for integrity and for public officials to step aside when faced with serious misconduct. Those same standards should be applied consistently, regardless of political affiliation. Representative Edwards has compromised the integrity of the House and betrayed the public's trust. I urge you to publicly call for his immediate resignation and to make clear that this behavior has no place in Congress. Thank you for your time and consideration. I respectfully ask that you let me know your position on this matter.
