I'm writing to you today to urge you to vote against the Laken Riley Act. As we know, immigrants are statistically much less likely to engage in criminal activity. We also know that most violent crime in the US is done by white men. However, Republicans, who claim to care so much about safety when it comes to immigration policy and trans rights, refuse to do anything about gun control, to stop domestic violence, or to curtail the epidemic of mass shootings. This bill is nothing more than a way to further harass and harm immigrants to our country. A country founded by immigrants should be open and welcome to all.
