The lawsuit alleges serious violations of federal privacy laws by giving Elon Musk's DOGE team access to personal financial data contained in the Treasury Department's payment system without proper justification or consent. This unilateral disclosure of millions of Americans' sensitive information like Social Security numbers, birthdates, home addresses, bank accounts and more breaches the Privacy Act of 1974 and IRS confidentiality rules. No public notice or comment period preceded this risky overreach that jeopardizes the privacy of retirees, taxpayers, federal workers and businesses nationwide. Strong judicial intervention is urgently needed to prevent the unauthorized exploitation of people's private data and force adherence to legal protocols designed to safeguard such sensitive records. The profit motives of a few privileged individuals must not supersede the privacy rights of the entire populace.
