I am your constituent writing to urge you to oppose H.R. 7661, the “Stop the Sexualization of Children Act.” This bill is an alarming example of federal overreach, using education funding to pressure schools and libraries into broad book bans instead of respecting local control and professional judgment. By defining “sexually oriented material” in vague, sweeping terms that explicitly include LGBTQIA identities, the bill targets LGBTQIA people and women, enabling censorship rooted in the religious beliefs of a subset of the population rather than in evidence or genuine child welfare. It would silence already marginalized communities and restrict young people’s access to honest, inclusive information. Please vote against H.R. 7661 and stand for local decision‑making, religious freedom for everyone, and the rights and dignity of LGBTQIA people and women.
