An Open Letter

To: Rep. Ogles, Sen. Blackburn, Sen. Hagerty

From: A constituent in Culleoka, TN

It is vital that Congress reasserts its constitutional authority over matters of war and peace. The decision to engage in military action against a sovereign nation like Iran cannot be unilaterally made by the executive branch. Such authority rests firmly with the legislative branch as per the Constitution. Escalating tensions and potential military confrontation with Iran would undoubtedly lead to devastating consequences and loss of life, exacerbating an already volatile situation in the Middle East region. The passage of this bipartisan War Powers Resolution would serve as a necessary check on executive overreach and prevent unauthorized hostilities against Iran without proper Congressional approval. I urge you to support this critically important resolution to uphold the principles of democracy, prevent another misguided conflict, and preserve Congress's sole power to declare war.
