No to "Protection for Women and Girls in Sports Act"

To: Rep. Barrett, Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Lansing, MI

January 18, 2025

Do not support the deceptively named "Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act." Larry Nassar was able to abuse female athletes because he was empowered to subject them to often unnecessary, invasive procedures in his role as a sports doctor. This bill, among other problems, seeks to normalize subjecting girls and women to physical inspections of their most intimate body parts for purely political reasons. To arbitrarily empower adults to demand see what is in a child's pants is perversion of the highest order. This act does nothing to serve girls and women in sports. In fact it is largely supported by people who do or would opposed Title IX protections for female athletes. Do not engage in this bad faith systematized violence against girls and women. It is intolerable hypocrisy and anti-American.
