Vote yes on PA House Bill 37 to allow counties to pre-canvass mail-in ballots seven days before Election Day. This straightforward reform will help Pennsylvania avoid the chaos of delayed election results that has plagued our state in recent cycles.
Pennsylvania is one of only a handful of states that prohibits election workers from processing mail-in ballots before Election Day. This forces counties to handle hundreds of thousands of ballots in a compressed timeframe, creating unnecessary delays that fuel conspiracy theories and erode public confidence in our elections. Seven days of pre-canvassing gives election officials time to verify signatures, open envelopes, and prepare ballots for counting without changing when a single vote is actually tallied.
This isn't a partisan issue. County election directors from both parties have been asking for this change for years. Voters deserve to know the outcome of their elections on election night, and election workers deserve the tools to do their jobs efficiently. Pass HB 37.
