What exactly did we get out of this war? American service members bled for it. We spent billions on it. And the outcome, by any honest accounting, is an Iran that controls the Strait of Hormuz under its own arrangements, $24 billion in frozen assets potentially returned to Tehran, and a US with far less regional leverage than when we started. That's not a win. That's a disaster dressed up in a Truth Social post.
This war was launched on February 28 without Congressional approval and without regard for international law, reportedly at Netanyahu's urging, with the stated goal of toppling the Iranian regime. That goal failed completely. Iran held the Strait, triggered a global energy and fertilizer crisis, and outlasted us diplomatically. Meanwhile Israel, the whole reason we got into this, is now being left to deal with the fallout while the administration can't even agree with its own mediators on whether Lebanon is part of the ceasefire.
I want a full Congressional accounting of the objectives, costs, and outcomes of this war. Who authorized it? What was the strategy? What did we actually achieve? The American people and the men and women who served deserve honest answers.
