Investigate pardons, protect democracy - impeachment consideration warranted

President Trump's decision to pardon nearly all defendants charged in relation to the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol undermines the principles of law and order. The violent attack on the Capitol, carried out by rioters seeking to overturn the results of a free and fair election, was a direct assault on American democracy. By pardoning those involved, including individuals charged with assaulting law enforcement officers, the President is condoning acts of domestic terrorism. This brazenly political move obstructs justice and sends a dangerous message that such egregious acts will go unpunished. As Americans who believe in upholding the Constitution and the rule of law, we must demand accountability for this unconscionable abuse of presidential power. The House of Representatives should exercise its authority to investigate these pardons and consider whether impeachment proceedings are warranted to address this grave threat to our democratic institutions.
