This ban strips puberty blockers, hormones, and transition-related care from kids whose families depend on Medicaid — meaning it lands hardest on children from low-income households who have no other way to pay for this care. That number is already devastatingly small, the result of 27 state bans, parental barriers, and limited access. This rule doesn't transform the landscape — it just makes one more door harder to open for kids who already have almost none. As Dr. Drew Updike puts it, this is "the banality of cruelty": another boring government document making trans life harder, one policy at a time.
