When the government shuts down, it’s American families who bear the cost. Congress must end the political games, reopen the government, and stop holding federal workers—and the communities they serve—hostage.
Federal employees, including the one-third who are veterans, are dedicated Americans delivering essential services nationwide. They deserve to do their jobs without political interference. Instead, Congress’s inaction has thrown their lives—and those services—into chaos.
To make matters worse, President Trump and OMB Director Russell Vought have threatened the illegal mass firing of federal employees during the shutdown, compounding the harm to workers and communities.
It’s time for Congress to put an end to the theater, take responsibility, and stop forcing unnecessary hardship on families across this nation
