We need legislation that enacts a moratorium on the construction of new data centers. This is URGNT - small towns (including MY town of Lower Mt. Bethel) are under attack by billionaires and mega corporations making false promises. These mega developments are destroying our farmland and rural communities in Pennsylvania - and all across America - they pollute toxic chemicals that kill plants and animals and people. All this to support a technology that WILL take our jobs (studies say tens of millions across the country) and MIGHT just destroy our entire civilization (experts say a super-AI in the near future could act on its own, against the interests of humans)! Read the news - EVERY new data center built brings nothing but pain and suffering to the local communities. Please take action NOW to get a handle on these rapidly evolving technologies before it’s too late. The function of AI and robotics must be to improve life for all, not just make a handful of very rich people even richer. We don’t need the technology when the price is our health and our rural community. We don’t want data centers destroying farmland and nature areas that must be preserved for future generations.
