I am deeply concerned about the proposed budget increases of $90-$175 billion over the next decade for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and mass deportations. This influx of funding would enable ICE to expand its unconstitutional practices, such as unlawfully detaining immigrants without due process, sending migrants to other countries without notice, and building inhumane detention facilities like the one planned for Guantanamo Bay. ICE has already sent immigrants to El Salvador without due process, violating their constitutional rights. Increasing their budget would only embolden them to escalate these abuses on a larger scale. We should not be funding an agency that systematically disregards the rule of law and human rights. Instead of enabling ICE's draconian tactics, we must hold them accountable and ensure they follow proper legal procedures for every single person in this country, regardless of immigration status. I urge you to vote against any budget plan that increases funding for ICE and mass deportations. Protecting civil liberties and upholding due process should be paramount.
