The Trump administration's unprecedented use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelans without due process is a blatant violation of constitutional rights and exceeds the scope of the law. As confirmed by Judge Fernandez Rodriguez's recent ruling, the president cannot unilaterally declare an "invasion" to circumvent legal procedures. This action undermines the foundational principles of justice and fairness that define the American legal system. The mass deportations of alleged gang members, including many without criminal records in the U.S., is an unjustifiable overreach of executive power. Depriving individuals of their right to challenge removal through proper legal channels is a dangerous precedent that erodes civil liberties. The broad application of this wartime statute during peacetime represents an abuse of authority that must be immediately halted. It is imperative that the administration respects due process rights and adheres to established immigration laws. Continuing down this path will only breed further injustice, undermine the rule of law, and tarnish America's reputation as a nation of laws and human rights. I urge an immediate cessation of deportations under the Alien Enemies Act and a restoration of constitutionally guaranteed legal proceedings for all individuals facing removal.
