The U.S. State Department's decision to halt medical-humanitarian visas for people from Gaza is deeply concerning. This policy will prevent critically injured and ill Palestinians, including many children, from accessing life-saving medical treatment in the United States. The dire situation in Gaza due to years of conflict and severe food shortages has left nearly 100,000 women and children facing severe malnutrition requiring urgent care. Denying visas for medical evacuations is an inhumane act that will needlessly endanger the lives of innocent civilians. As a nation that prides itself on humanitarian values, the United States has a moral obligation to provide this essential pathway for Palestinians to receive potentially life-saving care. Furthermore, unfounded allegations should not dictate policies that impact human lives. I urge you to press the State Department to immediately reinstate medical-humanitarian visas for people from Gaza and conduct a transparent review process without jeopardizing access to critical care.
