DOJ Lacks Integrity: Appoint a Special Counsel Immediately
The rule of law is facing a profound crisis of legitimacy. Recent investigative reporting regarding U.S. Attorney Andrew Boutros and the collapse of the Broadview Six case reveals systemic prosecutorial misconduct that extends far beyond a single rogue attorney.
Federal court findings have exposed severe abuses of power within the Northern District of Illinois, including improper contact with grand jurors, the removal of skeptical jurors, and misleading redactions designed to conceal the truth. The ongoing fallout—evidenced by the forced dismissal of multiple separate criminal cases—indicates that this dysfunction is widespread.
Worse, evidence suggests a coordinated effort to insulate leadership by scapegoating a single line prosecutor, despite indications that this politically motivated strategy involves high-ranking officials in both Chicago and Washington, D.C. The Department of Justice cannot be trusted to investigate itself when the integrity of its highest offices is compromised.
A continuous pattern of evasion and internal cover-ups shocks the conscience. I urge you to exercise your oversight authority and immediately demand the appointment of an independent Special Counsel to fully investigate Andrew Boutros and involved DOJ officials.
