I was disappointed to read about Governor Hochul's recent decision to pause congestion pricing. Congestion pricing is a vital initiative to reduce traffic and emissions in urban centers. It has proven effective in cities worldwide, decreasing pollution while raising funds for public transit improvements. Further delays will only exacerbate gridlock and environmental harm impacting not just New Yorkers, but also people from surrounding states like Pennsylvania who visit New York City. I urge you to reach out to your colleagues in New York State to push for a return to the original congestion pricing plan without additional roadblocks. The health and livability of our city and region depends on sustainable transportation solutions like this.
