Stop the Tesla Tunnel B4 It’s Too Late

To: Sen. Campbell, Gov. Lee, Rep. Mitchell

From: A constituent in Nashville, TN

August 7

As the Tennessean’s poll illustrates; The people of Nashville don’t approve of your Music City Loop, governor. I think it could actually be more appropriately name Lee’s Loopy Tunnel. Today I read every article that’s been printed in the Tennessean. The all refer to this ill fated project as a “high-speed” transportation system. Yet, everything I’ve read about the LV tunnel says the card don’t exceed 35 MPH in the tunnel: hardly a “high-speed” transportation system. Setting that aside, I’m appalled there’s been nothing shared with the citizens of Nashville about engineering studies, environmental studies, feasibility studies, safety studies, or an actual engineering plan that describes the route of the tunnel. In other words; it appears to this observer that the Boring Company is flying by the seat of their pants; hardly a professional approach to a project of this magnitude. And today a Senate investigative panel released a report outline it the massive failures of Elon Musk’s DOGE fantasy. How do you expect the citizens of Nashville to believe this project has more than a minimal chance of being a successful, or should I say useful, “high-speed” transportation system that will revolutionize travel to and from BNA. Today the Mayor McConnell has sent you a list of many, many concerns that I think you should answer to the public. Included in the article is a statement about how the Music City Loop will primarily serve tourists and convention attendees. 51% of respondents to a poll by the Tennessean disapproved of the project and less than 30% support it. The poll also indicates that the general impression is that the Tesla tunnel will serve folks other than tourists and convention attendees, a clear indication the project is being presented in a way to mislead the public about it’s purpose and likely customers. In essence it appears to me that Gov Lee has obligated Nashville to support a project that’s not really for the benefit of Nashvillians. This isn’t leadership: It’s Gov Lee currying favor with Donald Trump. I find that grossly unacceptable.
