Pass Legislation Strengthening and Protecting Election Certification Laws

To: Rep. Moolenaar, Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Mesick, MI

October 19

I am writing to urge you to introduce and support legislation that protects the peaceful transfer of power by strengthening penalties for the disruption of election certifications. While candidates must always retain their full legal rights to request statutory recounts, file formal court challenges, and utilize official audit processes, we must draw a firmer line against efforts to undermine certified outcomes outside the courtroom. Threats, coercion, and incitement against election workers are already illegal, but the deliberate, repeated rejection of finalized, court-vetted election results by public officials causes long-term harm to our civic infrastructure. Please consider sponsoring legislation that creates stricter accountability metrics, civil penalties, or qualifications for office for any official who intentionally sabotages or refuses to acknowledge legally certified election tallies.
