Stop treating transgender rights as a political liability. Virginia Governor Spanberger just proved the opposite — she killed a Youngkin-era Board of Health rule that would have banned trans women and girls from bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports teams, and she did it in a purple state under $2 million in anti-trans attack ads from her GOP opponent. The lesson here is not complicated. Spanberger went on the air, answered the attacks head-on, and refused to let Republicans define the conversation. She didn't retreat — and she won. Meanwhile, Democrats in Texas, Ohio, and Iowa are distancing themselves from trans constituents, apparently convinced that abandonment is a winning strategy. It isn't. The LGBTQ+ community comes with millions of allied voters who pay attention, show up, and remember who stood with them.
Equality is not a favor to be granted when it's politically convenient. I expect you to stand firm, defend trans Americans, and stop treating this community like a bargaining chip. Sacrificing transgender rights does not win elections — the data proves it.
