I understand that we all want kids to be safe and free from trafficking. However, the measures being introduced this upcoming week are not the solutions that they are touted to be. KOSA, the SCREEN Act, IODA, the GAMING act, Sammy Act, and many more impose invasive and censorious duty of care requirements on platforms and websites, creating environments for predators and traffickers to easily take advantage of victims and minors. Isolation, surveillance, requiring personal information to access the Internet, inserting backdoors into secure browsers and programs, chat control, all of this is something that, as a kid, I was taught to avoid on the Internet. They are intended to censor, not to protect. One of NCOSE's members even admitted that this was the plan all along. As a constituent, I question the wisdom of passing ineffective censorship bills, like with FOSTA and SESTA. Please oppose these bills. I will remember how you all voted come 2026, which is not far off.
