I write today to desperately ask that you not send any of Tennessee’s National Guard troops to Washington DC. The current operation there is highly politically skewed and deploying our brave and dedicated service members to make a political point disrespects them and our constitution. It also needlessly escalates conflict and I fear that these are the first maneuvers towards a civil war that will tear our nation apart. Please help to maintain cool heads and remember that you serve a very diverse community and the principles of our constitution, not a single man or his whims. There is no demonstrable reason to use our troops in a domestic action right now (crime in DC has declined in recent years and could better be dealt with through police and community support). Please help to end the madness of political turmoil before the wild personal vendettas of one man and his immediate circle lead us all into a devastating and irreparable state of self destruction. Show that you believe in our constitutional principles and keep our Guard here in Tennessee. Thank you for your time.
