I'm writing to express my disappointment and disgust at your choosing to vote to dedicate a day to Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk was an unapologetic white supremacist who hated America because it didn't reflect his beliefs. He should be condemned, not honored. Charlie Kirk day should instead be a day dedicated to the children who were killed in school shootings on the same day. It should be a day dedicated to stopping gun violence by restricting access to high-caliber firearms and making gun control a priority. Charlie Kirk hated people like me simply for existing because I was born a certain way. He enabled a pedophilic predatory president and uttered hate with his last breath. That is not worth honoring.
