We the People Demand Transparency and Accountability
To: Sen. Schiff, Rep. Kiley, Pres. Trump, Sen. Padilla
From: A constituent in Auburn, CA
February 6
I’m writing to you not just as a constituent, but as someone who is exhausted, angry, and frankly heartbroken by what I’m watching our government do in real time. The continued withholding and redaction of the Epstein files feels like a slap in the face to every person who still believes in the idea of equal justice under the law. We are being asked to accept a version of “transparency” that looks a whole lot like a cover-up. The message this sends is crystal clear… “If you are rich enough, powerful enough, or connected enough, the rules simply don’t apply to you.” That is not justice. That is not democracy. That is not the country we are supposed to live in. People are struggling, angry, and losing faith in our institutions because over and over again we see the same story play out… regular people face consequences, while elites walk free. Survivors of abuse are asked to trust a system that seems more concerned with protecting reputations than protecting victims. Meanwhile, the public is told to “move on,” to stop asking questions, to accept redactions, delays, and silence. We cannot move on. We should not move on. There is no healing without truth, and there is no justice without accountability. If powerful people can be shielded from consequences when their names appear in credible investigations connected to exploitation and abuse, then what are we even doing here? Why should anyone believe in the rule of law if it is selectively enforced? Why should people follow laws when the message from the top is that wealth and influence buy immunity? This is a breaking point for a lot of us. It feels like we are screaming into the void while institutions close ranks to protect themselves. That despair you see everywhere, apathy, rage, nihilism, that doesn’t come from nowhere. It comes from watching injustice get buried again and again. So I am begging you to act… - Release the full, unredacted Epstein files. - Stop hiding behind excuses and procedural delays. - Hold criminal investigations and bring charges wherever the evidence supports it, no matter how famous or powerful the person involved is. - Hold hearings. -Demand answers. -Force transparency. Do something that proves this system still belongs to the people and not just to the powerful. This is bigger than one case. This is about whether justice in this country means anything at all. If Congress cannot stand up here, on something this morally clear, then what hope are we supposed to have that it will stand up anywhere else? People are watching. People are losing hope. And people are done accepting a system that protects predators and punishes the powerless. I urge you to be on the right side of this moment. History will remember who demanded truth and who helped bury it.
