Musk's Takeover of OPM Raises Cybersecurity, Privacy Concerns

To: Sen. Duckworth, Sen. Durbin, Rep. Quigley

From: A constituent in Chicago, IL

January 31

It is absolutely unacceptable that Elon Musk's unqualified cronies have brazenly seized control of the Office of Personnel Management and locked out legitimate government officials. This outrageous power grab has given Musk's lackeys unfettered access to the highly sensitive personal data of millions of federal employees without any oversight or accountability whatsoever. This reckless move is a dangerous breach of cybersecurity that endangers the privacy of hardworking public servants. The forced ouster of experienced career officials and their replacement with Musk sycophants is a blatant attempt to rapidly dismantle this crucial agency through undemocratic and opaque means. The federal workforce is the backbone of this nation, not Musk's personal fiefdom to pillage as he pleases. Any efforts at reform must follow proper procedures with full Congressional oversight - not this authoritarian corporate ransacking. I demand you take immediate action to remove Musk's unscrupulous operatives, reinstate qualified civil service leadership at OPM, and guarantee the security of federal workers' private information. This brazen trampling of oversight and public trust cannot be tolerated. The American people deserve far better than Musk's cronyism and callous disregard for democratic principles.
