Israeli settlers are carrying out literal pogroms against unarmed Palestinians in the West Bank. They are doing it using weapons sold by the US. Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir bragged about handing out US rifles to settlers and encouraged violence against Palestinians. The Biden administration put restrictions on further rifle shipments and put sanctions on a few of the most violent settlers but the Trump administration removed all of those restrictions. This is making Israel much less safe, to say nothing of the massive death toll for Palestinians. Hamas said on October 7 that they were doing their attack in response to Israeli settler attacks. The number of attacks has gone up, not down. PM Netanyahu is unwilling or unable to curb this, which means the Trump administration must take action to save Israelis from themselves here. I urge you to restrict arms and support to these illegal settlements, which even President Trump has admitted are an obstacle to peace. Palestinian imam Sheikh Farouk Ramadan and his family were gunned down by Jewish settler extremists, this means unarmed religious leaders are being killed. The US has a role to making peace and has to step in and stop this violence, and that means holding both sides accountable.
