I am your constituent and I want you to know that we all deserve a healthcare system that works for all of us. I want you to know that we spend about 18% of GDP on healthcare. European countries are in the 10% range. Countries in Europe, like Spain, spend about $4500 per person to fully cover everyone. We pay about $14,500 per capita and yet tens of millions have no health insurance at all.
Our peer industrialized nations with universal healthcare have lower maternal mortality, infant mortality, longer life spans, and far fewer avoidable and preventable deaths.
It is cruel to not have a healthcare system in my country that allows all of us to go to the doctor and be able to afford the medicines we need to live without declaring bankruptcy.
This is IN YOUR HANDS. The vastly improved Medicare For All Of Us Act is well designed public insurance trust that would pay private providers - NOT SOCIALIZED ANYTHING. Moreover it will saver our country about $750 billion in 2026 dollars each and every year according to a 2020 non partisan Congressional Budget Office report, https://www.cbo.gov/system/files/2020-12/56811-Single-Payer.pdf.
We deserve to have healthcare and you are in the position to do it. BTW a recent Gallup poll indicated that 62% of all Americans want the government to make sure that everyone of us had insurance - GET IT?
