Oppose Joe Kent as the Director of the National Counter Terrorism Center

February 4
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the nomination of Representative Joe Kent as the Director of the National Counter Terrorism Center. While I respect his service as a Green Beret and CIA Officer, I am deeply concerned about his past actions and associations, which I believe disqualify him from this critical position.
It has come to my attention that Representative Kent has shown a troubling pattern of approving and even supporting the behavior of domestic terrorists. This is unacceptable for someone who is supposed to lead an organization dedicated to protecting our nation from terrorism. The Director of the National Counter Terrorism Center must be someone who unequivocally condemns all forms of terrorism, whether domestic or international.
Furthermore, Kent's alignment with controversial figures and policies raises serious questions about his judgment and ability to lead an impartial and effective counterterrorism strategy. His past statements and actions suggest a willingness to overlook or even endorse extremist behavior, which is antithetical to the values and mission of the National Counter Terrorism Center.
In light of these concerns, I urge you to reconsider his nomination and to select a candidate who has demonstrated a consistent and unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms. Our nation's security depends on the integrity and dedication of its leaders, and Representative Kent's record does not inspire confidence in his ability to fulfill this crucial role.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that you will make the right decision for the safety and security of our nation.
