Protect Ukrainian Refugees — Prevent Harsh Crackdowns on Migrants

The Trump administration's plan to revoke the legal status of approximately 240,000 Ukrainians who fled the conflict with Russia is WRONG. These individuals sought refuge in the United States due to the devastation caused by the Russian invasion, and revoking their protections would put them at risk of deportation, potentially separating families and upending lives. This decision contradicts our American values of providing humanitarian aid and safe haven to those fleeing violence and persecution. Furthermore, this move is part of a broader effort to strip legal status from over 1.8 million migrants who were granted temporary humanitarian parole under the previous administration. This includes revoking protections for hundreds of thousands of Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, Venezuelans, and Afghans who assisted American troops. Many of these individuals could then face expedited removal proceedings, disrupting their lives after they sought legal pathways to enter the United States. This harsh crackdown on vulnerable migrant populations, including our Ukrainian allies, must not be allowed to happen! Revoking their legal protections not only goes against American principles of compassion but could have destabilizing effects both domestically and abroad. These migrants deserve to have their cases fairly evaluated without the threat of immediate deportation.
