An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Protect Freedom of Information and Safeguard Historical Records

20 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

The recent removal of information from government and military websites is deeply concerning. It is an attempt to erase and rewrite history. Purging webpages related to gender identity, racial equity, climate change, and other important topics goes against principles of transparency and public access to information. This will have serious consequences for marginalized communities, public health initiatives, and environmental protection efforts. Rather than deleting this crucial data and resources, the government should maintain and expand access to factual information on these issues. Attempts to obscure or deny reality ultimately undermines democratic values and the public's trust in institutions. I urge you to speak out against these webpage removals and ensure that government websites provide comprehensive, up-to-date information to all citizens without censorship or revisionism. Protecting freedom of information and safeguarding historical records MUST be a top priority.
