Reverse the Unjust Deportation of Allison Bustillo-Chinchilla

I write to urgently protest the harsh and unjust tactics used in the deportation of Allison Bustillo-Chinchilla, a young woman who has called Charlotte home for over a decade.
Allison came to this country as a child, graduated with academic honors from Crest High School, and pursued a nursing scholarship at Gardner-Webb University. Despite no criminal record, she was detained by ICE during a traumatic home raid - a raid seeking someone not even at that address. She was held in custody in dire conditions for six months, and coerced into 'voluntary' removal to Honduras. Her family and community were devastated by the inhumane treatment she endured.
Deporting individuals like Allison—who contribute positively and seek only opportunity—is fundamentally wrong. These actions tear apart families and communities, undermining the values of fairness and opportunity America claims to uphold. I urge you to demand humane immigration policies that support, not punish, those who strive to make this country a better place. I understand deporting violent recidivist criminals to their countries of origin. People like Allison? We need people like her!
I urge you to advocate for reforms that protect immigrant families and uphold dignity and justice for people like Allison. I especially urge you to take every possible step to expedite her return to the United States.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
