DHS/ICE buy Berks County warehouse

I was disgusted to read that the Trump administration has recently purchased a 520,000 square foot warehouse in Berks County to convert into an immigrant detention center. If reports about other detention centers around the country have told us anything, this detention center will be used to illegally hold and torture undocumented immigrants, U.S. citizens, children, and others who have committed no crime. As a Pennsylvania native, I demand you do better. This state is home to thousands of immigrants. We should absolutely not be aiding the Trump administration in its illegal abuse of our friends and neighbors. We should be an example and stating plainly that our state will not participate with this authoritarian regime in its detainment of people just because of where their family is from. I urge you to take a stand. Do something about this purchase and do not allow other such procurements of warehouses to take place. You must end Pennsylvania’s cooperation with ICE and DHS now, while you still have the freedom to do so. The detention of people won’t stop at immigrants, soon enough they will come for anyone critical of the Trump regime.
